CALL FOR TRAINING DATES IF NONE ARE CURRENTLY LISTED! +1 513.874.3225 Electrical Power & Motor Control Applications Prerequisites: Apprentice electrical knowledge Course Length: 3 days Textbooks: ATP Motor Control Textbook, CFC Custom Lab Manual, Ugly’s Reference Guide, Schematics & Cut-sheets Equipment: Breadboard Trainers, CFC Trainers w/ working Components, Multi-Meters, Hand Tools, Wire, Cords & Connectors This course covers the fundamentals and principles of industrial electrical systems utilized in Motor Control Applications, w/ an emphasis on safety. AC Electrical Power, Motors, & Motor Control Technology will be the focus of the class. The theoretical discussions will be solidified utilizing hands-on exercises. Basic electrical history & principles first sets a foundation. Students will be given instruction regarding modern motor control theory, the hazards associated w/ work on live electrical circuits, Industry Standards, & applying the correct components. Students will configure circuits & test energized components w/ Meters. The use & application of individual Motor Control-specific electrical components & sub-systems will be studied in detail. Learning Objectives: •Understand the History of Electrics & Basic Electrical Laws •Understand the physics of Electron Transfer, Magnetism, Conductance, & Inductance •Compare AC vs. DC Power & why different energy transfer methods are used •Demonstrate the ability to use a Multimeter to test Voltage, Current, & Resistance •Understand Resistance, Reactance, & Impedance differences •Demonstrate the ability to safely test DC, 110/230/440 single, & 3-phase AC voltages •Understand 3-Phase circuits, Transformers types, Delta, & Wye configurations •Understand Power Distribution, Power Supplies, & Circuit Protection •Gain Familiarity w/ Conductor Sizes & Modern Interconnection Technology •Demonstrate the ability to make quality electrical interconnections •Understand the operation of Relays, Contactors, & basic Motor Control Circuits •Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot common circuit failures •Understand Regulations, Codes & Industry Terminology; IEC, NEMA, IEC, OSHA, NFPA, etc. •Understand NEMA Motor nameplates, Terminology & Definitions •Understand Bonding & Grounding Techniques consistent w/ NEC Article 250 •Familiarity w/ AC Servo Motor Technologies, Control & Feedback Devices •Familiarity w/ Frequency Drives & Vector Control •and more!
