No prerequisites required. Any and all newcomers to pneumatics will benefit from this course. Fluid power industry professionals, maintenance technicians, machine operators, and sales representatives will be empowered with foundational knowledge. Even seasoned personnel will likely experience increased understanding of their core competencies.
What is it about?
This course correlates fluid power principles with practical system operation and maintenance duties. Procedures to ensure the safety of personnel and to prevent damage to machinery will be discussed. Introductory physics and gas laws will be explained. Air compression, preparation, and distribution will be introduced and a thorough familiarization with the construction, operation, and specific use of pneumatic components will take place through use of cut-away and take-apart components. Pneumatic symbols appearing in schematics will be correlated to real-world componentry. The location of components in a pneumatic system will be identified and proper adjustment procedures demonstrated. Hands-on labs will reinforce fluid-power concepts and the operation of common components in demo circuits.

OBJECTIVES:
- Recognize compressed air safety practices
- State advantages and disadvantages of pneumatic systems
- Explain relationship between gauge and absolute pressures
- Identify schematic symbols and be able to read a basic circuit
- Explain the fundamental construction and operation of compressors
- Explain the effect of contaminants in compressed air systems
- Explain how pneumatic filter locations and ratings
- State the purpose of a pressure regulator
- Illustrate how an air lubricator works
- Recognize the need to monitor compressor oil level and condition
- Distinguish between venting and non-venting regulators
- Explain the fundamental construction and operation of cylinders
- State how to replace seals and packing in cylinders
- Identify Symptoms of leaking seals in air cylinders
- Explain the fundamental construction and operation of directional valves
- Explain the fundamental construction and operation of flow control valves.
Confirmation & Cancellation Policy:
In-House Training Policy:• Each class is subject to a minimum enrollment of six (6) participants, which may be comprised of attendees from multiple organizations. If the minimum enrollment is not met prior to the scheduled date, CFC may reschedule the class to an alternative available date, in consultation with affected clients.• A valid Purchase Order (PO) is required to secure class seat(s). Purchase Orders must be submitted to [email protected] and must reference the applicable class name and scheduled dates.• Class seats are allocated in the order in which valid Purchase Orders are received.• The quoted course fee will be invoiced on the final day of the course and is due Net 30 from the invoice date.• Credit card payments are subject to an additional three percent (3%) processing fee.• Cancellation and rescheduling charges apply once a Purchase Order has been issued and class dates have been secured, as follows: – Two (2) weeks’ notice: CFC reserves the right to invoice for any non-recoverable costs incurred, including but not limited to travel, lodging, and associated change or cancellation fees. – Less than two (2) weeks’ notice: Seventy-five percent (75%) of the total quoted amount. – Less than one (1) week’s notice: One hundred percent (100%) of the total quoted amount. – For classes scheduled to commence on a Monday, cancellation notice must be received by the preceding Friday no later than 4:00 PM Eastern Time (nine (9) calendar days prior).• Cancellation charges are calculated based on the full quoted amount. Additional costs arising from airline or hotel cancellations or changes will be invoiced at cost.• All applicable cancellation charges will be invoiced at the time of cancellation and are due Net 30 from the invoice date.
