CALL FOR TRAINING DATES IF NONE ARE CURRENTLY LISTED! +1 513.874.3225 Introduction to Fluid Power: Concepts & Components Prerequisites: None Course Length: 3 days Textbooks: Custom Equipment: Take-Apart & Cut-Away Components This course introduces the students to fluid power system predictive and preventive maintenance concepts and routines that should be understood and implemented in order to minimize downtime due to wear and failures. A systematic approach will be used by evaluating the condition of each of the primary components of a fluid power system. Specifically, students will begin with reservoirs and fluid maintenance such as filtration, sampling, etc. Next, pumps and pump alignment are discussed; including topics such as, vibration and sound analysis. Conductor and connector discussion follows and includes leakage topics. Pressure, directional, and flow control topics will include electrical maintenance as well. Seal leakage and failure will be addressed with actuators. Overall system cleanliness will then be covered. Finally a discussion of maintaining records and the impact of concepts such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) on quality control programs. Course Outline: •Fundamentals -Heat, Noise, Vibration, Leaks -Downtime -Predictive vs. Preventive •Reservoirs -HFI Yardstick -Heat •Fluids -Compressibility, Lubrication, Sealing, Cooling -Viscosity -Oxidation & Anti-Wear Additives -Fluid Types & Recommendations -Contamination -Contamination Sources: Built-in, ingressed, & internally generated -Corrosion, Fatigue, Abrasion, Cavitation, Aeration -Mechanical Clearances, Particle Sizes -Effects: Failure Modes -Measurement: Sampling -ISO Solid Containment Code -Target Cleanliness -Control -Filtration Products • Pumps & Pump Alignment -Vibrations -Sound Analysis -Heat -Handling Repairs -Test Procedures •CONDUCTORS AND CONNECTORS -Good Assembly Practices -Pipes -Tubing Dos and Don'ts -Hoses: Proper Selection, Couplings, Testing, Inspection •Accumulators -Leakage •Pressure, Directional, & Flow Controls -Leakage -Predictive Maintenance •Electronic Maintenance -Proper Test Equipment -Setting Servo & Proportional Cards •Actuators -Seals -Life, Dynamics, Types, Installation -Leakage •Overall System Cleanliness -Measurement Parameters •Maintenance Schedules -Setting up -Optimizing
